Elvis hasn't even left the building
I haven't even left London yet - nor do I know when or where I will be going - but I've just read someone else's blog and decided to have a go self-congratulatory onanism myself. Are you bored yet?
Japan is still a small, hard-working dot on the horizon at the moment. It's impossible to be excited about something you don't know about, but it's very easy to fret. So far I have 1,354 things that could go wrong in the first fortnight, while the only positive is that I'll enjoy some decent noodles. I think it's safe to say my greed will outweigh any fear and I'll love it, even if that is hard to imagine now.
Until I know where I'm going, I haven't researched Tokyo. I'm scared I'll find something brilliant and be posted in the opposite part of the city. However, wherever I am, I've been told I must visit this place:

I'm also hoping to find the infamous (and horribly cruel) penguin bar in Kobe - but I think I need to know my immediate surroundings before I get carried away on my first Greenpeace freedom mission.
In the meantime, I'm trying to make the most of my dearest London. Two months doesn't seem long enough to take it all in. At least with the bombings, I should be able to get a good seat on an open top bus...
